These bizarre rainbow mountains may have treated you and fostered the illusion that you were in another world.
Far in the northwest of China, Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park is one of the world’s geological wonders, and was formed millions of years ago. The jagged mountains of red sandstone brim with a riot of colors by the sunlight, and impress people with its magnificent appeal.
The Rainbow Mountains have attracted lots of photographers, who are addicted to nature and landscape photography. The balance of light and shadow, with the bright, dramatic colors on the grotesque rock formations composes the perfect shot.
How to get there:
Autumn time between September and October is the best to visit Zhangye. Get to Zhangye first, then take the regular bus from Zhangye West Bust Station to the park directly (there are two entrance gates located in Linze Country and Sunan Country separately).
The opening hours:
During summer: 7:00AM ~ 18:00PM
During winter: 7:30AM ~ 17:00PM
Photography tips: usually there are staffs on duty at sunrise and at sunset.
Suggested travelling time: 5 hours or more
